As Many As

John 1:12: But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

As many as is an absolute number. We don*t know exactly how many have received Jesus or how many will. Blessedly, the number is still growing. God knows what the number is now and what it will be forever.

2 Timothy 2:19b: . . . The Lord knoweth them that are his. . .

Any individual who has not received Jesus is excluded from the number. Every individual who has received Jesus is included in the number. If we are children of God, we are one of the as many as. If anyone else is to become a child of God they must receive Him. There will not be one more or one less child of God than that number.

Them that believe on his name cannot be some other number. All those that believe on His name receive Him. All that receive Him believe on His name. We must believe in Him enough to receive Him. Believing on His name and receiving Him are the same thing.

To them gave he power to become the sons of God. It takes Divine and miraculous power to become a child of God. Jesus Himself and Jesus alone gives it to as many as receive him.

John 14:6: Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

As many as receive Jesus will come to the Father.

Acts 2:39: For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Acts 13:48: And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.

Romans 6:3: Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

Galatians 3:27: For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

Romans 8:14: For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

John 10:27-28: My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

As many as receive Jesus hear the voice of Jesus, follow Him, have been given eternal life, shall never perish and cannot be plucked out of His hand.
